Definition
A talent pool is the group of candidates and workers an organization can draw on to fill jobs: past applicants, current and former employees or Crew Members, referrals and people who have shown interest. For a staffing agency, the talent pool is its inventory, the people it can place quickly without starting a new search.
What it means in practice
The cheapest placement is someone already in your pool. A candidate who applied six months ago, a Crew Member finishing an assignment, or someone a client rated highly can often be placed faster than any new hire. The work is keeping the pool current: availability, skills, credentials and contact details.
- Active: working now or available this week.
- Warm: worked recently or applied recently.
- Dormant: in the system but not contacted for a long time; worth reactivating before recruiting new people.
Example
A client asks for ten warehouse associates by Monday. Instead of posting a new job, the agency searches its pool for forklift-certified Crew Members within 15 miles who are available weekends, invites the top matches and fills the order from people it already knows.
How NextCrew fits
NextCrew lets agencies search their pool by skill, certification, position, location and availability, including in plain language, and organize Crew Members into groups for one-click invitations.
