Definition
Redeployment is moving a Crew Member straight from an assignment that is ending onto a new one, so they keep working through your agency instead of looking elsewhere. It is the cheapest placement an agency can make, because the recruiting, onboarding and compliance work is already done.
In practice
Every assignment has an end date, and every end date is a moment when a proven Crew Member can walk to a competitor. Agencies that redeploy well look at who is finishing in the next two weeks and match them to open orders before the last shift, not after it.
In light industrial and events, where assignments are short, redeployment is how an agency keeps a reliable pool. In healthcare and professional staffing it also saves re-credentialing time, as long as licenses and documents are still current.
How do you measure redeployment?
Redeployment rate = Crew Members placed on a new assignment within a set window ÷ Crew Members whose assignments ended in the same period. Pick one window, such as 7 or 14 days, and keep it. If 40 assignments ended this month and 26 of those Crew Members started a new one within 14 days, the redeployment rate is 65%.
Example
A warehouse client's peak-season order ends on a Friday. Two weeks earlier, the agency lists the 30 Crew Members finishing that day, checks their ratings and availability, and offers them shifts at an event client starting Monday. Twenty-two accept, so most of the event order is filled without recruiting anyone new, which also cuts time to fill.
In NextCrew, the Crew Members you already have come up first when you fill a job, filtered by recent activity, distance, rating and position, and each Crew Member's job history shows where and when they last worked.
